Gildas Cheung | Chair
Gildas Cheung
Mr. Cheung is a Program Manager at the Amazon Corporation. He joined the board in 2009 and was elected Board President in 2014. He chairs the Executive Committee and also serves on the Finance and Pension Committees.

John Foz | 1st Vice Chair
John Foz
Mr. Foz is Secretary of the Puget Sound Region of the Inlandboatmen’s Union of the Pacific. A Seattle resident for nearly 30 years, he has served on leadership bodies in the local labor, business, and church community. Mr. Foz has served on the ICHS Board since 2008 and currently chairs the Board Development Committee. He also serves on the Executive Committee.

Cris Krisologo-Elliott | 2nd Vice Chair
Cris Krisologo-Elliott
Ms. Krisologo-Elliott has served on the ICHS Board since 2005. She is a Program Manager for the Port of Seattle Port Jobs. She currently chairs the Human Resources committee and serves on the Executive and Pension Committees.

Kelli Nomura | 3rd Vice Chair
Kelli Nomura
Ms. Nomura is a Behavioral Health Care Provider and Chief Operating Officer at Community Psychiatric Clinic. She joined the ICHS Board in 2011 and currently serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the Community Relations and Advocacy Committee.

Lee Marchisio | 4th Vice Chair

Mr. Marchisio practices general municipal and public finance law at Foster Pepper PLLC. Prior to joining private practice, he served over four years in Governor Chris Gregoire’s administration as liaison to local government and community groups and as the Governor’s outreach director. Mr. Marchisio chairs the Compliance Committee and serves on the Finance & Audit and Executive Committee.

Catherine Johnson | Secretary
Ms. Johnson works as a research scientist for the University of Washington in the field of Epidemiology. She earned a Master’s degree in Public Health in 2005 and a PhD in Epidemiology in 2009, both from the University of Washington. She has been published several times in peer-reviewed, academic journals. Ms. Johnson joined the ICHS Board in 2012 and serves on the Quality Management Committee.

Joyce Chin | Treasurer
Ms. Chin is a global financial services executive with extensive experience in opening markets and supporting global businesses in India, Europe and Singapore. She joined the ICHS Board in 2015 and serves as the chair of the Finance & Audit Committee.

Mariam Abarientos

Ms. Abarientos is Accounting Manager at a leading Northwest general contractor with over 15 years of experience in managerial and financial accounting. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree in Accounting at Seattle University, where she also serves as a member of the Albers School of Business and Economics Alumni Board. She joined the ICHS Board in 2017 and currently serves on the Finance and Audit, and Pension Committees.

Patricia (Trish) Bustos
Ms. Bustos is a workforce professional with over 15 years of experience with non-profit and federally funded programs. She is the Vocational Services Manager at the social enterprise Skills Inc. and previously served Community Health Centers as a Workforce Manager. Ms. Bustos has served on the ICHS Human Resources Committee since 2016.

Tessa Chu

Ms. Tessa Shin Yi Chu serves on the ICHS Board and the Quality Management Committee. She leads the Asian Health Leaders Forum – Puget Sound Chapter, an affiliate of the Washington State Health Executives Forum (WSHEF). She holds her Masters in Public Health from Yale School of Public Health.

Jenny Fang
Ms. Fang has served on the ICHS Board since 1996 and has a background in education. She currently serves on the Board Development and Community Relations & Advocacy Committees.

Amanda Kimura

Ms. Kimura works at the Washington State Department of Health in cancer screening and prevention. She received her Master of Public Health in 2013 from the University of Washington. Ms. Kimura joined the ICHS baord in 2018 and serves on the Quality Management Committee.

Ted Lew
Ted Lew
Mr. Lew has a professional background in computer technology and accounting, and has a strong background in community service. He joined the ICHS Board in 2011 and serves on the Community Relations & Advocacy Committee.

Hiroshi Nakano
Hiroshi Nakano
Mr. Nakano has served on the ICHS Board since 1997 and is the Managed Care Director for Valley Medical Center. Mr. Nakano currently serves on the Quality Management Committee and Compliance Committee. In addition to his service on the ICHS Board, he also serves as a member of the Washington Health Exchange Board.

Barbara Obena

Ms. Obena has been a patient of ICHS since 2014 and strongly aligns with the mission of delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate services. Her background and interests are in advancing primary care and health equity. She has worked in community health centers in CA and WA, the Department of Health, the Community Health Plan of WA, and currently, at Kaiser Permanente to enhance member diversity and inclusion efforts. She received her Masters of Public Health in Community-Oriented Public Health Practice from the University of Washington and is working on her second graduate degree at Seattle University to become a Nurse Practitioner, focusing on the Adult-Gerontological population.

Charles Wu

Mr. Wu has been a member of the ICHS Foundation Board since 2007 and has also been on the ICHS Board since 2005.  He is the Supervisor of the Solid Waste/Vector Nuisance Program in the Environmental Hazards Section of Public Health – Seattle & King County where he has worked for the past nine years.

Leeching Tran | President
Leeching Tran
Ms. Tran is vice-president of Viet Wah Group. She first became involved with ICHS as a clinic volunteer in 2005 and joined the Foundation Board in 2015. She co-chairs the Gala Committee.

Ador Pereda Yano | 1st Vice President

Mr. Yano is a Digital Publisher at Pereda Yano Publishing LLC. He was a Product Development Manager at Massachusetts Medical Society, publisher of the New England Journal of Medicine, and previously worked at Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard. He joined the ICHS Foundation board in 2015.

Nancy W. S. Lee | 2nd Vice President

Ms. Lee has two decades of domestic and international retail and corporate banking experience. She was most recently vice-president of East West Bank. As a passionate people-centric culture leader, she encourages and promotes positive energy in the community. Ms. Lee has extensive experience as a volunteer for a variety of other nonprofit organizations.

Teresita Batayola
Teresita Batayola
Ms. Batayola has been a member of the ICHS Foundation Board since 2007 and is ICHS Chief Executive Officer.  She also serves on the board of the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations.

Sheila Esmeralda
Ms. Esmeralda joined the ICHS Foundation Board in 2010.  She is a Senior Treasury Relationship Manager, VP at KeyBank.

John Foz
John Foz
Mr. Foz is Secretary of the Puget Sound Region of the Inlandboatmen’s Union of the Pacific. Mr. Foz joined the ICHS Foundation Board in 2010. He has served on the ICHS Board since 2008.

Lu Jiang
Miss Jiang is an attorney and a social advocate in Seattle, with nearly ten years of diverse experience and a passion for helping others overcome challenges associated with socioeconomic disparity. She currently works on the central strategy team of a nonprofit foundation, and volunteers as a clinic attorney for the Housing Justice Project of King County.

Nicole Li
Nicole Li
Ms. Li is an attorney with a background in medical research ethics, public health, and teaching. She is also an ICHS Board member and has extensive experience as a volunteer for a variety of other nonprofit organizations, both in the Northwest and abroad.  She is the chair of the Board Development Committee.

Nicholas Ong

Mr. Ong is a senior executive with more than 27 years of experience in the medical devices and health care industry. He has held various senior executive positions in Spacelabs Healthcare Inc, where he spearheaded operations, special projects and technology initiatives. He joined the ICHS Foundation board in 2016.

Tom Van Bronkhorst
Mr. Van Bronkhorst has over 25 years experience in public affairs, communications, political consulting, public policy and media production. As Legislative Aide for Seattle City Councilmember Jean Godden, Mr. Van Bronkhorst acted as policy advisor on energy, budget, environmental and media issues.

Mr. Wu has been a member of the ICHS Foundation Board since 2007 and has also been on the ICHS Board since 2005.  He is the Supervisor of the Solid Waste/Vector Nuisance Program in the Environmental Hazards Section of Public Health – Seattle & King County where he has worked for the past nine years.



ICHS Executive Leadership

Teresita Batayola | Chief Executive Officer
Teresita Batayola
Teresita Batayola serves as ICHS president and CEO after entering health care with a background in economic development, community and international development, and strategic planning. A spokesperson and advocate for affordable health care and community health, she is Chair of Seattle Colleges’ Board of Trustees, immediate past president of the Washington Association of Community and Migrant Health Centers, and serves on national and state health care boards and task forces. Awards and recognition include: Seattle Business Magazine outstanding leader in health care in 2010, Betsey K. Cooke Grassroots MVP Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers in 2012, White House Champion of Change in 2014, Filipino Community of Seattle Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Leadership in 2014, and Puget Sound Business Journal Woman of Influence in 2017. Under her leadership, ICHS was named a National Quality Leader for 2014, 2015 and 2016 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In 2015, Governor Jay Inslee honored ICHS with the 2015 Warren Featherstone Reid Award for Excellence in Health Care. Batayola holds a bachelor’s in public affairs from Seattle University and an MS in urban administration from Bucknell University.

Ron Chew | Foundation Director
Ron Chew
Ron Chew previously worked as executive director of the Wing Luke Museum for 17 years and editor of the International Examiner for over 10 years. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Seattle Public Library and the International Examiner. He has worked on many local capital campaigns.

Hermes Shahbazian | Chief Financial Officer
Hermes Shabazian
Hermes Shahbazian brings more than 30 years of health care financial management experience to his role at ICHS, with emphasis in leadership, strategic planning, operational management and team building. He has a master’s in public administration/finance from Seattle University and a bachelor of science in business administration/accounting from California State University, Los Angeles.

Asqual Getanah | Medical Director
Asqual Getanek, medical director and physician, ICHS International District Clinic
Dr. Asqual Getaneh oversees medical staff at ICHS’s eight medical clinics, located in Seattle, Bellevue and Shoreline. Prior to her position with ICHS, Dr. Getaneh served as a medical director of a health center at Unity Health Care, the largest community health system in Washington, D.C. An expert in global health and research to improve health equity among minority populations, Dr. Getaneh was previously an associate clinical professor of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicans and Surgeons and practiced internal medicine for more than 20 years for organizations including New York Presbyterian Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Health Research Institute, where she focused on diabetes and hypertension research. Dr. Getaneh is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Board Trustee of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research. Dr. Getaneh has a medical degree and masters of public health from the University of Washington.

David Chen | Chief Dental Officer
David Chen, DDS, Dentist and Chief Dental Officer ICHS International District and Shoreline clinics
David Chen, DDS has served as ICHS’s chief dental officer since June 2018, having previously served as the health center’s dental director since March 2017. Dr. Chen joined ICHS as an assistant dental director in 2015. Prior to this he worked in private practice for over 13 years. Dr. Chen is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and Cornell University. He completed a general practice residency at the Loma Linda VAMC in 2001.

Rachel Koh | Vice President of Pharmacy and Business Development
Rachel Koh, senior director of pharmacy services
Rachel Koh brings more than 25 years of experience in pharmacy management, including retail and clinic pharmacy operations and pharmacy benefit administrations. In addition, she has provided oversight to care management, led NCQA accreditation and certification efforts, led HEDIS measure certification and been responsible for vendor and risk-sharing management. Her areas of expertise include health plans, pharmacy benefits, integrated delivery systems and medical software.

Rayburn Lewis | Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
Rayburn Lewis, MD was named ICHS chief medical officer in 2017 following his retirement as CEO of Swedish Issaquah in 2016. Dr. Lewis, a board-certified internal medicine physician, served in a variety of leadership roles across the Swedish system, including senior vice president and COO of Swedish/Cherry Hill, vice president for medical affairs and CEO for Swedish/Ballard. In a tenure spanning more than 30 years, Dr. Lewis advanced patient satisfaction, Swedish’s community presence, recruitment, growth and facilities. He is an award-winning visionary and impactful champion of health equity and the health safety net, contributing his leadership to local community and health organizations that promote the outdoors and serving the medically underserved. He served as the most recent president of the Washington State Association of Black Professionals in Health Care.  An avid cyclist and hiker, Dr. Lewis is a board member for Seattle’s Bike Works and Cascade Bicycle Club, organizations that promote the empowering benefits of cycling. Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Washington’s School of Medicine, where he completed his internal medicine residency and served as chief medical resident from 1982 to 1983.
