Why I Work at ICHS:

ICHS has cared for my family and friends and is a place of which I hold a deep gratitude. It is through this personal experience that I know ICHS is a home for its community. I believe ICHS is intentional in serving its community in a culturally sensitive and competent way. I feel so privileged to be able to become part of the team here.

Patient Care Philosophy:

I believe that patients should be at the center of their care and that it is the provider’s role to facilitate a patient’s journey in health. Health is not only a person’s physical well-being, but a complex relationship between mental health, spirituality, and socioeconomic context.

Interesting Note About Myself:

I grew up in the International District/Chinatown area where many of my extended family lives and my parents had a small printing shop. I am an avid rock climber and enjoy going on outdoor adventures with my family.

Why I Work at ICHS:

I am deeply aligned with the ICHS founding mission to provide culturally sensitive health care to a diverse population from around the world along with a commitment to social justice and patient advocacy.

Patient Care Philosophy:

My philosophy of practice is steeped in an Integrative Medicine approach with each person being an active partner in their own healing process. To support that healing, I offer conventional medicine; functional medicine; herbal medicine; mind/body practices (embodied movement practices, yoga, meditation and stress-reduction techniques) and nutrition support – with food as medicine. It is my job as a health care provider to remind my patients to trust the innate wisdom of their body to heal and support them along the way.

Interesting Note about myself:

I enjoy travelling and immersing myself in other cultures. I am passionate about growing my own food, eating local, and cooking farm to fork meals. As a dancer, I often offer “dance as a prescription” and it never ceases to amaze me to see how movement and dance can help people heal and transform their lives.

Why I Work at ICHS:

I was drawn to ICHS due to the resilient community it serves and its rich history of community activism and providing linguistically sensitive care. I love the diversity of the work I am able to provide: caring for newborns, children, adolescents, adults, pregnant people, elders; caring for people of various racial and ethnic backgrounds, immigration histories, genders, sexualities, financial means, abilities, talents, and challenges.

Patient Care Philosophy:

I aim to support the health and well-being of the entire person in a manner that is nonjudgmental and centered around patient values and goals. I have specific clinical interests in addiction, caring for people affected by systems of incarceration, mental health, refugee and asylum health, and adolescent medicine.

Interesting Note About Myself:

I enjoy cooking traditional Filipino dishes, cutting and styling hair, spending time with my partner, and watching television shows with subtitles.

Why I Work at ICHS:

I love the community and sense of joint mission at ICHS. Most of our patients face significant cultural, language, and resource barriers to receiving the healthcare that they deserve. I’m proud to be part of a team that prioritizes them and helps them lead healthy and fulfilling lives. In addition to clinical work, I enjoy helping train and mentor the next generation of doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and nurses. I’m proud that ICHS not only provides clinical care, but also addresses larger social determinants of health through mentorship, advocacy, and outreach.

Patient Care Philosophy:

My goal as a doctor is to understand what my patients’ goals are and how I can help to achieve and maintain them. I love providing full spectrum care for the whole family from obstetrics to geriatrics. Specific clinical interests include addiction medicine, primary care for patients with severe mental illness, comprehensive women’s health, and addressing the impact of racism in our healthcare system.

Interesting Note About Myself:

I love graphic novels and biking to work. I have a pet chinchilla named clover who I continue to bribe one raisin at a time.
