        Q&A

You should get a COVID-19 vaccine even if you already had COVID-19.

Getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 infection provides added protection against COVID-19. You may consider delaying your vaccine by 3 months. However, certain factors could be reasons to get a vaccine sooner rather than later, such as:

        • personal risk of severe disease,
        • risk of disease in a loved one or close contact,
        • local COVID-19 hospital admission level,
        • and the most common COVID-19 variant currently causing illness

People who already had COVID-19 and do not get vaccinated after their recovery are more likely to get COVID-19 again than those who get vaccinated after their recovery.

Yes. ICHS is proud to offer COVID-19 vaccines to those that do not have health insurance. Please walk-in to our clinic pharmacies (information is listed above). You will have to pay out of pocket for the costs however, ICHS offers a competitive low price to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The bivalent booster, which is no longer available, was introduced in the fall of 2022. It targeted the Omicron variants and the original COVID-19 virus. The new vaccine is ‘monovalent’ - “mono” for single - because it is designed to prevent disease from the Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant that is circulating right now.

One question that has been on almost everyone’s mind from the start is if the COVID-19 vaccines are safe. Yes, the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines have been thoroughly tested for safety.

To date, hundreds of millions of people have safely received a COVID-19 vaccine under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history.

Yes! It's safe and effective to get both of the vaccines together at the same visit. Many patients find it more convenient to get both with no significant drop in antibody response.

Like other vaccines, side effects are normally mild. The side effects most commonly reported are pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site, headache, fever, and fatigue. Symptoms usually occur one to two days after vaccination and are mostly mild and resolve after a few days. These side effects are normal signs that your body is building its protection.
