ICHS Vax-92
ICHS encourages everyone to get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect yourself, your family, and our community.

As the virus evolves, so should our protection.

The updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines are designed to specifically target the COVID variants circulating now. This means better protection for us by helping our bodies recognize the way the virus looks today and added protection for the most vulnerable members of our community.

ICHS has the latest COVID-19 Vaccine

ICHS clinic pharmacies are administering the 2023-2024 Pfizer (COMIRNATY) monovalent COVID-19 vaccine to adolescents and adults (ages 12 and older) on a walk-in basis.

You do not need to be an ICHS patient to receive your COVID-19 vaccine at ICHS pharmacies.

Appointments are not required. Please bring your photo ID and insurance card.

Most health insurance plans cover the cost of vaccines. If you have insurance, you can always call your insurance company to see if you're covered. If you do NOT have insurance, you must pay out-of-pocket for the cost of the vaccines.

You must wait at least two months after your last COVID-19 vaccine before you can receive the updated vaccine.

Moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals please speak with your provider about what is best for you.

Updated COVID-19 vaccines for ICHS child patients

ICHS is offering Pfizer (COMIRNATY) Monovalent COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months - to 11 years old by appointment only. Please call ICHS at 206.788.3700 to schedule a vaccine appointment or speak with your care team during your other scheduled appointments.

Has your child completed their COVID-19 vaccine series?

  • Yes: We recommend your child gets a single 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine.
    • No: We recommend that your child complete a multi-dose series (x3 Pfizer) with at least one of the doses being the 2023-2024 vaccine.

Your child must wait at least two months after your child’s last COVID-19 vaccine for them to receive the updated vaccine.

Lakshmi Deepa Yerram, ICHS Chief Medical Officer and Physican

"The first and foremost thing is that the vaccine helps prevent kids from getting COVID-19. There are no two ways around that. Although we know that COVID-19 in children is sometimes milder than what we see in adults, some kids infected with the coronavirus can get severe lung infections, become very sick, and require hospitalizations. We read reports on children unfortunately passing away from this infection.”

          Q&A

COVID-19 remains a serious respiratory illness, causing more than 200,000 reported deaths since January 2022. Older people are more likely than younger people to get very sick from COVID-19 but some young, healthy people have gotten very sick as well. Not being vaccinated leaves us at unnecessary risk as another potential fall or winter COVID-19 infection wave approaches.

Speak with your medical provider to determine the best timing for you. Doctors recommend that at a minimum, wait on your COVID-19 vaccination until you have recovered from acute illness and you have met the criteria to leave isolation. In addition, you may want to consider delaying the updated vaccine by three months of your positive test or onset of symptoms.

Yes. ICHS is proud to offer COVID-19 vaccines to those that do not have health insurance. Please walk-in to our clinic pharmacies (information is listed above). You will have to pay out of pocket for the costs however, ICHS offers a competitive low price to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Health professionals recommend you get this updated vaccine as soon as you are eligible. You must wait at least two months after your last COVID-19 dose. Some of us have had booster doses this year. If it's been two months since your last booster dose you ARE eligible to receive the updated Monovalent vaccine.

The bivalent booster, which is no longer available, was introduced in the fall of 2022. It targeted the Omicron variants and the original COVID-19 virus. The new vaccine is ‘monovalent’ - “mono” for single - because it is designed to prevent disease from the Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant that is circulating right now.

One question that has been on almost everyone’s mind from the start is if the COVID-19 vaccines are safe. Yes, the updated COVID-19 vaccines have been thoroughly tested for safety. To date, hundreds of millions of people have safely received a COVID-19 vaccine under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history.

Yes! It's safe and effective to get both of the vaccines together at the same visit. Many patients find it more convenient to get both with no significant drop in antibody response.

Like other vaccines, side effects are normally mild. The side effects most commonly reported are pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site, headache, fever, and fatigue. Symptoms usually occur one to two days after vaccination and are mostly mild and resolve after a few days. These side effects are normal signs that your body is building its protection.
