James-Taylor

I really appreciate what ICHS does here and I think funding for clinics like this is so important in helping the community out.

My name is James Taylor and I have been coming to International Community Health Services (ICHS) since 2018. I am a veteran who served in Iraq for 15 months. After the war, I was diagnosed with PTSD and my symptoms affected my life a lot. It was hard to get around places without symptoms and it affected parts of my life, eventually leading me into homelessness. I was covered by the army’s VA insurance, but they had limitations in their coverage. I found that Medicaid could give me wider coverage, including medical and dental, so I switched over to Apple Health.

One day, ICHS actually called me asking if I needed to come in for any services. I didn’t even reach out to them, but I really appreciated that ICHS knew about a new patient under Medicaid and they took the initiative to let me know that I would be able to come in and afford my health care. At the time, I had been suffering a lot of pain from cavities that I had not been able to get taken care of because I couldn’t afford them with VA. ICHS reaching out to me helped my pain a lot because it did get real bad.

I really appreciate what ICHS does here and I think funding for clinics like this is so important in helping the community out.
