"It allowed me to get my health back."

Yu Fu-at right

My name is Yu Fu (pictured at right) and I am 76 years old. I immigrated to the United States in 2009 from China. I retired before I came and have two children that now live here. I have been coming to International Community Health Services (ICHS) for the last five years because my friends told me about the language services they provide and they can speak my language.

Before I got Medicare, I had no insurance. I accidentally fell one day and hurt myself. I went to ICHS, saw the doctor and got treated. But it was so expensive! I knew I could not pay it all. Then, without me asking, my doctor told me that ICHS offered income-based payments. He told me that according to income, I could have discounted services.

I was so thankful that he told me about this because I would otherwise have not asked about it! ICHS offers assistance to those who need it and I really appreciated their help. It allowed me to get my health back.
