ICHS Talks: Our role in community health
2025, Thursday May 15 and Thursday May 22, 12:00pm - 1:00pm PST
Cost: Free, registration required
In this free virtual lunch and learn 2-part series, International Community Health Services (ICHS) speakers and guest speakers from the Washington Association of Community Health (WACH) will speak on important challenges and opportunities that we see in community health today
Community health centers are pillars of primary care in our community. As nonprofits, we provide comprehensive care to marginalized patients who otherwise wouldn't get the care they need.
Federal policy changes and funding cuts are presenting new challenges for community health centers. However, 2025 is also a time of new programs and services launched to bridge the gap and deliver more affordable care using the latest technologies.
What does community health look like in the year ahead?
Over the past five decades, ICHS has continued to care for all people who need health care, regardless of their background or ability to pay. However, the health care system is complex, and the needs of our communities and patients grow and change.
We invite you to join us in learning about how ICHS is working to support the needs of our community.

Meet the speakers
Courtney Smith-Jiles is the Chief Strategy Officer at Washington Association of Community Health (WACH), where she oversees policy and strategy. Before moving into her current role in 2023, Courtney led the policy team at the Association as the Director of Government Affairs. Prior to joining WACH, Courtney was the State Government Relations Manager at Kaiser Permanente, where she worked extensively on policy issues related to integrated primary care and pharmacy. In that role she directed government relations, public affairs and communication strategies, relying on service leadership principles to build a collaborative team of contract lobbyists and policy staff.
Alyssa Patrick is the Director of Policy, Advocacy, and Communication at WACH. She and her team advance community health center priorities through legislative and regulatory advocacy at the state and federal levels. They also track and inform CHCs about the always shifting political landscapes. Alyssa also supports strategic communication planning and implementation across WACH. Alyssa is well-versed in convening diverse stakeholders to communicate and advance complex policy needs. Her experience has spanned local and state government, public agencies, and non-profits, giving her a strong sense of Washington’s political environment and legislative process, as well as effective advocacy strategies.
Jenny Shin serves as President of the ICHS Foundation Board, where she helps advocate for the organization’s mission to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate care to underserved communities. As the daughter of immigrants, Jenny is passionate about reducing barriers and ensuring health equity for all. She brings over a decade of public health experience in program development, strategic planning, research, and workforce equity. Jenny has led initiatives to implement best practices and improve patient outcomes, particularly in cardiac arrest research and emergency response systems. She holds a Masters in Public Health and currently leads equity-focused initiatives at King County EMS, including efforts to strengthen the diversity and cultural responsiveness of the EMS workforce.
Kelli Nomura is the Chief Executive Officer of International Community Health Services (ICHS). Prior to her appointment in 2022, she served as an ICHS board member for over 10 years in multiple roles. With an emphasis on strategic planning, Nomura has chaired committees and workgroups such as ICHS' Community Relations and Advocacy committee and been the co-chair of Strategic Planning. Prior to joining ICHS as CEO, Nomura served as division director for the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division of King County’s Department of Community and Human Services.
Jade East is the Chief Operations Office of ICHS. He has over 15 years of experience in health care operations within federally qualified health centers on the West Coast. He holds an MBA from George Washington University and is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. His passion for community health stems from the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders—including board members, clinicians, community leaders, and staff—all united in the mission to enhance community health and wellbeing.
Braden Hirasawa has been the Director of Clinic Operations of ICHS since 2021, after first joining ICHS as the clinic manager of ICHS' Holly Park Medical & Dental clinic in 2018. He works continuously to improve ICHS' patient care — using data-driven approaches to support accessible, efficient healthcare for everyone. Prior to his time at ICHS, he served in clinic operations roles in federally qualified community health centers in Washington state. Braden holds a MHA from the University of Washington.
Kate McIntyre is the Behavioral Health Services Director at ICHS. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and also has a Masters in Public Health. She has been working in the Behavioral Health field for 18 years in a variety of community health settings and is originally from North Carolina. She started her career in a research lab studying Schizophrenia, and quickly learned the best part was driving patients to and from their homes to the lab, where she could learn about them and see how treatment improved their overall wellbeing.
Sherryl Grey is the Director of Community Health Services at ICHS. Sherryl has been with ICHS for over 15 years and has had several roles within the organization. The bulk of her time has been developing and overseeing ICHS school-based health services and more recently, adding the oversight of community outreach and engagement programs.
