In 2011, ICHS launched an innovative collaboration with Asian Counseling & Referral Service (ACRS), a nonprofit organization offering human services and behavioral health programs to Asian and Pacific Islander communities in King County and greater Seattle. Through the partnership, ICHS provides on-site primary medical care to ACRS Seattle clients dealing with serious mental illness.
The collaboration addresses health disparities experienced by individuals with mental illness by:
- improving clients’ access to primary care services;
- improving prevention, early identification and intervention to reduce the incidence of serious physical illnesses; and
- facilitating integrated, holistic care for physical and behavioral disorders.
