An early start to flu season

According to recent news, respiratory illnesses are trending up in Washington state, in what experts say is an early start to this year’s flu season.

“It's a little bit earlier than we would've expected for flu,” said Dr. Helen Chu, Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington in an interview with KUOW. “In Seattle and in Washington state, we usually see flu peak in December or January, but this year we're seeing cases quite early.”

When should I get my flu shot?

The Washington Department of Health recommends everyone get their flu shots by the end of October, but the flu vaccine is still available through winter.

What flu shots is ICHS offering?

ICHS is offering flu shots for children, adults, and older adults - including high-dose flu vaccines.

Is it safe to get a flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time?

Yes! Its safe and effective to get both of the vaccines together at the same visit. Many patients find it more convenient to get both with no significant drop in antibody response.
