The Internship Experience
The ICHS Dental Assistant Internship Program is a highly-valued, intensive 6-month program offered biannually that prepares our interns for a professional career as a dental assistant. Students receive full benefits and compensation from day one of their training where they are partnered with our clinic supervisors for 1:1 instruction and work alongside the whole team of dental assistants.
Students advance in the curriculum by completing online assignments, and while in the clinic, they observe, perform under supervision, and complete check-offs to work independently. This results in a fully immersive learning experience while ensuring patient safety.
What you will learn
Our interns learn head and neck anatomy, teeth morphology, perio charting, sterilization techniques, principles of instrument processing, dental chair operation, dental examination, and EPIC. Our interns learn first hand how to independently take x-rays, set-up for many different types of procedures, perform teeth cleaning for our pediatric patients, and learn how to adapt and assist our dentists based on each dentist's preferences. Helping to educate and answer questions for our patients are additional key responsibilities.
