Through voting, we have power to create real change. Voting empowers you to choose your elected representatives and give input on matters that are important to you and our community.
To register in Washington, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
- Be a legal resident of Washington state and your county for 30 days by Election Day
- Finished with your prison term if you have a felony conviction

Voting with Past Convictions in Washington State
You can register today if you have finished your prison term. Washington State now restores voting rights to citizens with past felony convictions immediately upon release from prison.

- Yes. Misdemeanors do not affect your voting rights in our state. You can even vote from jail.
- Can I vote if I have a juvenile conviction?
- Yes. If you were not tried in an adult court, your conviction doesn’t affect your voting rights, and you can vote.

- Can I vote if I owe court debt (LFOS)?
- Yes. Washington can no longer revoke your voting rights because of court debt.

- Can I vote if I have a WA felony conviction?
- Yes. You are now able to vote immediately upon release from prison, even while on supervision. You must re-register to vote, even if you were registered before incarceration.

- Yes. Use an identifiable location as your place of residence (such as cross streets or a landmark), and set your mailing address as “general delivery” at a post office address.
