Why I Work at ICHS:
I share the commitment of ICHS to improve the health and well-being of the community. I am extremely fortunate to be involved with an organization working towards health equity and community empowerment.
Patient Care Philosophy:
Health care services exist to meet the diverse needs of communities. As a provider, I aim to create a supportive and affirming space for patients to discuss and achieve their health care goals.
Interesting Note About Myself:
I love baking and make desserts for all of my family gatherings.
I want to complete my residency at ICHS because I believe in the mission: to provide culturally competent, high-quality care to the whole family to build a healthy and productive nation. As community healthcare needs become complicated with lack of insurance, lack of resources, multiple comorbidities, mental illness and substance use disorder, an organization such as ICHS is a lifeline to many. Also, I have heard from nurse practitioners who are currently in the ICHS residency program that ICHS fosters a collaborative practice that facilitates inclusion.
Patient Care Philosophy:
Patients deserve to be treated with compassion and dignity regardless of status or race.
Interesting Note About Myself:
I think humor, good food, hiking and gardening have the potential to heal.

Why I Work at ICHS:
I believe in ICHS’s mission to provide access, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care to all patients. I enjoy working with a diverse population of patients and providers on meeting shared goals for improving health and quality of life.
Patient Care Philosophy:
I believe it is important to develop meaningful patient-provider relationships in order to deliver patient-centered care. With active listening as my first step, I strive to learn from patients’ lived experiences to provide care informed by scientific evidence tailored to their conditions, situations, values and preferences.
Interesting Note About Myself:
Seattle has always been my home. I enjoy creating art, bicycling around the city and eating good food!
I am honored to work at ICHS, as it is a reflection of the ever-growing melting pot that Seattle has become. The exposure to diverse patient populations combined with the organization’s strong roots in advocacy allows me to not only grow into a culturally sensitive provider, but also into a well-rounded person overall.
Patient Care Philosophy:
I partner with my patients and their support systems to provide holistic, patient-centered care by empowering them to seek successful health outcomes.
Interesting Note About Myself:
I’m an avid fan of singing along to songs in my car. As a lifelong vegetarian, I am always on the hunt to try out new vegetarian dishes.

“Immunizations provide a safe, proven defense to help parents make sure children grow up strong and healthy,” says Dr. Asqual Getaneh, ICHS chief medical officer. “They provide almost complete protection against serious diseases like measles, which still plagues some U.S. communities. Not only that, but getting vaccinated helps protect everyone, even those who are not vaccinated, by contributing to herd immunity and lowering the overall risk of infection.”
One component of ICHS’s success was proactive outreach efforts by Carmina Caoile, ICHS population health coordinator. Caoile made phone calls to ICHS patients and answered questions about cost. In Washington, youth younger than 19 can receive immunizations for free.
Caoile also represented ICHS at local health fairs to share educational materials and developed a ‘Super Kid’ incentive to make immunizations less scary. Young patients became an “ICHS Super Kid” after getting shots, complete with fun costumes, photos and certificates.
“Our young patients really enjoyed dressing up and posing for photos” Caoile shared. “Having a reward at the end motivated them to do their part to help fight disease.”
