Why I Work at ICHS:
I volunteered at ICHS while in college 10 years ago and I fell in love with the multicultural and diverse setting that ICHS provided. I am grateful for organizations like ICHS, which provide affordable and quality health care for all and I am honored to be a part of the organization.
Patient Care Philosophy:
Treat patients with the best care like I would want to be treated.
Interesting Note About Myself:
I had major dental anxiety growing up and I had my very first dental cleaning at ICHS International District clinic after I immigrated to America. The kindness and patience that the doctor and clinic staff exhibited helped me overcome my anxiety and motivated me to work in the dental field.
“We’ve seen a positive impact for patients at our Bellevue Clinic and we are thrilled to work with ELAP to bring the same to Shoreline,” said Kimo Hirayama, assistant medical director at the ICHS Shoreline Clinic. ”Many of our patients are immigrants or refugees who face unique challenges or vulnerable circumstances. In providing access to qualified legal experts, we hope to address issues that put families’ health at risk and threaten our communities.”
ELAP experts can help patients on a wide range of civil matters, including those related to public benefits, housing, education and employment, legal status and family law issues.
“The Medical-Legal Partnership was founded on the idea that the most effective health care services target health problems at the source,” said Dorothy Leggett, ELAP MLP staff attorney. “We know that legal issues are stressors that can negatively impact a patient’s health and the community’s wellbeing. By working alongside health care teams to help patients assert their legal rights, we hope to increase access to free civil legal aid and improve overall health outcomes.”
Services are available to qualifying King County residents who fall below 200% of the federal poverty level, which was $50,200 for a family of four in 2019. The health care teams at ICHS work closely with ELAP’s legal aid attorneys to identify patients who qualify. Referred patients will meet with an attorney for sessions that can be scheduled at either the ICHS Bellevue or Shoreline Clinic.

I love working with people and learning about them. It is cool that there is so much similarity between all of our different cultures. Shared understanding of each other makes us stronger at ICHS.
Patient Care Philosophy:
Empowering people with knowledge and skills in oral care is the cornerstone to lifelong good oral health.
Interesting Note About Myself:
My husband and I just bought an 110 year old Seattle project house that we hope eventually will be our home. So I am now ‘interested’ and engrossed in home re-modelling.
I work at ICHS to have the opportunity to work with patients and staff who come from all over the world. This organization also feels like a family and I enjoy that aspect too.
Patient Care Philosophy:
I aim to provide the care, support, and education to my patients to the best of my abilities. I want them to see me as a partner in achieving and maintaining good oral health and overall well-being.
Interesting Note About Myself:
I love to watch sports (Go St. Louis Cardinals!), adventure, and travel.
“This is the most beautiful, unique and iconic buildings in the city.”
“The design itself has so much flair pairing perfectly with the soul of the twelfth man. Love it!”
These are some of the rave reviews received by our ICHS Shoreline Medical and Dental Clinic, which ranked third out of 10 candidates for Daily Journal of Commerce 2015 Building of the Year contest.
