The International Community Health Services Foundation has been awarded $40,000 from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound to purchase new dental chairs for the clinic at Holly Park.
This generous assistance will enable International Community Health Services (ICHS) to add dental chairs and replace aging ones, which wore down and broke over the years because of high use. ICHS started in Seattle in 1973 and offers quality dental, medical and counseling services to anyone, especially Asian Pacific Islanders, the uninsured and those in need.
“We’ve always appreciated the generosity from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound. This kind support from this local group allows us to continue providing quality, accessible health care to Seattle-area residents,” Teresita Batayola, CEO of ICHS, said.
“These new chairs will offer patients comfort, as our dentists conduct examinations and promote good oral health. At ICHS, we believe good health leads to productive lives.”
ICHS staff members worked quickly to purchase and install the new dental chairs to accommodate patients. “This was an example of the convergence of urgency, opportunity and giving,” Batayola said.
As a federally-qualified health center, ICHS offers services on a sliding scale for individuals based on income and welcomes all patients looking for quality care and convenience. Its two clinics in the International District and Holly Park are easily accessible by automobile and public transportation.
ICHS staff members also are bilingual and multilingual, speaking various Asian languages and dialects. New patients can make an appointment at the International District clinic by calling 206-788-3757. The Holly Park dental clinic can be reached at 206-788-3502.
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound is an employee-owned charitable foundation. Since 1951, generous Boeing employees have contributed more than $500 million to local nonprofit groups and United Way chapters. Employees Community Fund grants enable agencies to purchase equipment, renovate their facilities and create new programs that directly help their clients and strengthen communities.
Since 2010, the Employees Community Fund has funded $80,660 in direct grants to support ICHS. The Employees Community Fund helped with the purchasing of exam tables for when ICHS renovated and expanded its International District clinic.
